Cyber Security

Hackers don't care if your business survives

Hackers are always on the lookout for weak spots they can exploit, and small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) are often an easy target. But just because your business is small, doesn't mean hackers will show you any mercy. In fact, many hackers see small businesses as easy prey because they often lack the resources to properly protect themselves.

The Problem

Cyber attacks are more sophisticated than ever before

Each year, businesses face more and more cyber threats, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to mitigate and contain them. This is largely due to the increasing sophistication of hackers and their ever-changing tactics. That's why it's so important to take action before anything bad happens. It's far easier and cheaper to defend your business than it is to recover from an attack.

Hacked every 19 seconds

One business is successfully hacked every 19 seconds according to Hiscox. Around 4,500 of the 65,000 attempts to hack SMBs in the UK are successful each day. Cisco estimates that 53% of SMBs suffered a security breach globally in 2018.

93% of networks can be breached

In a new study of pen testing projects from Positive Technologies, it was found that in 93% of cases, an external attacker can breach an organisation's network perimeter and gain access to local network resources.

Average cost of a data breach

In the UK, the average cost of a data breach is £3.88 million, while the global average is $3.92 million. This cost comes from a variety of sources, including notification costs, loss of business, forensic and investigative costs, and post-breach mitigation costs.

41% of customers are lost

In the UK, 44% of consumers say they will stop spending with a business temporarily after a security breach, and 41% say they will never return to a business post-breach. This is in contrast to 83% and 21% of customers in the US who say the same.

Security Operations Centre

Monitor your business in real-time with our security operations centre

Most businesses wanting to maximise their cyber security capabilities hire in-house security experts full-time. These individuals continuously monitor networks and hunt down threats; however, this option usually comes with a high price tag. The alternative is using an outsourced SOC, or Security Operations Centre, at a fraction of the cost.

The SOC gathers data from an organisation's IT infrastructure and decides how to respond. Workstations, servers, and other devices all send telemetry to the SOC, which must then determine if each event is worth investigating. In the event of an incident, the SOC provides a rapid and effective response to help minimise the impact of any attack.

A SOC is vital for understanding if your security has been breached, and can also help determine how the breach occurred. Without a SOC, it would be difficult to impossible to tell if you were under attack or had already been infiltrated.
